AI & CLOUD EUROPE: the day we connected sovereignty, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence

Last Thursday April 23rd, at the Alicante Science Park, here at Cloud Levante we hosted, together with IONOS Cloud, the event "AI & CLOUD EUROPE — Think Global, Prove Local". A morning in which three speakers —Héctor Broseta (Channel Development Manager at IONOS Cloud), Victor Adsuar (CEO at Cloud Levante) and Celia Cabello (AI Engineer at Cloud Levante)— shared one common idea: European cloud is no longer an alternative — it is a strategic decision.

European cloud: the strategic option

Héctor Broseta opened the day with an overview of the current cloud market: hybrid multi-cloud is now the reality for 73% of companies, and the recurring problems with hyperscalers —complexity, unpredictable cost, vendor lock-in and weak local support— are pushing many organisations towards European providers.

The block focused on digital sovereignty and on hard data: according to Gartner, global spending on Sovereign Cloud IaaS will reach 80 billion dollars in 2026. On IONOS, this translates into European data centres under GDPR, cost optimisations of up to 71% versus hyperscalers, a real alternative to VMware after the Broadcom disruption, and an open-source and portable stack with no lock-in.

Cybersecurity: architecture with criteria

Victor Adsuar took over to address security as a cross-cutting layer, not an isolated department. His message: in a context where AI, hybrid environments and regulatory pressure all coexist, security cannot be built through reactive layers — it has to be designed from day one, on infrastructure the customer knows, controls and can audit.

The ideas that resonated most: legal sovereignty as the first security control, demonstrable security backed by real certifications and audits, predictable cost models as a way to mitigate operational risk, and cloud diversification as a resilience strategy against dependence on extra-EU providers.

Artificial Intelligence: from model to real service

Celia Cabello closed the technical block with the idea that became the central thread of the event: "Enterprise AI does not start with the model. It starts with the data." Gartner estimates that 60% of AI projects will be abandoned due to lack of AI-ready data — the model has become a commodity, but well-governed, traceable, proprietary data is the real competitive moat.

The block closed with real cases that, at Cloud Levante, we already have in production on IONOS: a 100% open-source data lake with medallion architecture, Minte as a conversational enterprise brain, a digital twin of the organisation to simulate decisions before making them, and governed text-to-SQL so anyone in the team can query company data in natural language while respecting permissions.

Coming soon: webinar recap

Given the success of the event, at Cloud Levante we have decided to organise a webinar recap session for everyone who could not attend in person. We will cover the key ideas from the three blocks and leave space for live Q&A. We will announce the date soon through our newsletter and usual channels.

Thanks to IONOS, to our speakers, and to everyone who came to the Alicante Science Park. See you at the webinar.
